We, a group of enthusiastic youngsters of Parakuntru village in Kanyakumari District one day came out with an idea of forming a group to help others and spend our time effectively rather than roaming around and doing nothing. We started a social service group in the name of social worker Mother Teresa and we were helping the poor and the needy since then. In the year 2005 and 2006 we celebrated Annual Day function and spent thousands of money in helping the poor people. With such a beginning, to increase the services offered to the poor we registered our social service group with N.Y.K. With a hope that registration will enable us to request help from the Government for the poor and the needy. The registration number is 534/2007. Later in September 2007 we registered our service group with the State Government Registration office, Kuzhithurai, Kanyakumari District, Tamil Nadu. The registration number is 47/2007. Thus our social service group, which comprises of 45 enthusiastic youngsters, is working towards the following objectives:
1. Bringing together youngsters in morality.
2. Creating awareness on pollution control among villagers and city-dwellers.
3. Training the villagers to keep the village surroundings clean and hygiene.
4. Creating awareness about environment, hygiene and harmful effects of plastic things among the public.
5. Engage in all social activities to help the poor and the needy.
6. Campaigning about the Government’s welfare programs so that it reaches the public.
7. Helping the poor village students in their education.
8. To work towards achieving 100% literacy in villages.
9. Conducting training sessions on personal health and following moral values.
10. To construct indoor and open stadium to train and improve the welfare of youngsters.
11. To publish State and Central Government plans and policies to reach the public.
12. Establishment of libraries and free coaching centers to improve the education of the students.
13. Conduct medical camps to improve the health of the public.
14. To improve the condition of roads and clean ponds in villages with the help of NSS students from Schools and Colleges.
15. Encourage youngsters to donate blood and save lives.
16. To work towards the supply of Drinking water, Electricity connection, Medical attention and Education for the villagers.
17. To work towards getting pension for aged and homeless and to get financial support for the wedding of poor spinsters and to get the necessary support for the disabled.
18. To train the village women in handicrafts to improve their living conditions.
19. To thatch the huts of poor villagers when needed.
20. To buy property in the name of Mother Teresa social service group to fulfill the above mentioned objectives
